Job Summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Proposal Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our proposal development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality proposals that align with our commercial and operational strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proposal Development: Develop and manage the development of proposals that meet the client's requirements and showcase our company's expertise and services.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of proposal development staff, including interviewing and selecting team members, creating job descriptions, providing professional development opportunities, setting goals, managing performance, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Content Creation: Write and review sophisticated responses to client requests, ensuring that the content reflects an in-depth understanding of our strategy and provides guidance and training as needed.
  • Data Analysis: Interpret and analyze applicable data to lead opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • Process Improvement: Lead and implement improvement initiatives to standard practice, processes, and procedures within the department or cross-functionally.
  • Collaboration: Ensure effective and collaborative partnership with various department teams to understand best practices and strategy to ensure deliverables meet the client's request and optimally position the company.
  • Technical Support: Oversee the provision of technical support for proposal tools.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification, with 8+ years of experience in proposal development, particularly in early phase clinical development.
  • People Management Responsibility: Previous experience in people management, including interviewing and selecting team members, creating job descriptions, providing professional development opportunities, setting goals, managing performance, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated leadership skills in a matrixed environment, with ability to mentor and develop employees in a team environment; advanced project management skills and a strong ability to process manage multiple activities and priorities; excellent oral and written communication skills, with sophisticated editing skills; strong critical and strategic thinking skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to interact and build relationships with individuals at all levels; strategic negotiation and problem-solving skills; advanced knowledge of the clinical development process, including functional operations and regulatory guidelines and directives across the full spectrum of development activities, particularly in early phase clinical development; strong expertise in sales and marketing strategy; excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
