Position Overview

The Sales Account Representative role is within our Business Unit Infectious Diseases located at Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Healthcare SL Spain. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting and selling ID products and services utilizing product expertise and strong relationships with customers within an assigned geography.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  1. Maintain and grow existing customer relationships to drive sales growth and meet or exceed sales targets.
  2. Pursue and track new sales leads, managing opportunities in the sales funnel and utilizing sales tools and support materials effectively.
  3. Assess customer needs and ensure key customers and KOLs maintain a high level of interest in our products and solutions.
  4. Regularly visit existing and new target customers, focusing on strategic segments and building long-term trusting relationships.
  5. Own demo and application activities where relevant, taking a co-development approach with customers and Abbott's solutions.
  6. Closely monitor the market and competitor activity, feeding market intelligence into marketing and commercial leadership.
  7. Frequent travel (up to 80% of time) is anticipated primarily across defined areas/territories.
  8. Identify, research, and contact prospective customers, building relationships that will generate future sales and continued revenue growth.
  9. Provide answers to customers' enquiries, especially key customers and KOLs.
  10. Organize and own customer meetings to impact our value proposition.
  11. Utilize sales tools and other sales support materials effectively to transfer messages to customers.
  12. Provide market intelligence information to marketing and sales management, such as customer feedback, customer needs, and competitor products or news.
  13. Execute the territory's annual sales plans and participate in monthly/quarterly business reviews.
  14. Other expectations and duties may include:
  15. Providing regular reporting to the Sales Department and contributing to the reliability of sales forecasts.
  16. Developing the right sales strategy for each customer, considering contact with stakeholders at all levels.
  17. Collaborating with the local team on key projects with customers, KOLs, or other bodies.
  18. Installing instruments at customer sites and providing training to new users.
  19. Prioritizing strategic/key accounts and collaborating with the local team to win and maintain them.
  20. Demonstrating product and other subject-matter knowledge on an annual basis via the mandatory recertification process.
  21. Participating in congresses and events in the assigned region or at international events.
  22. Collaborating with sales support teams to ensure effective tenders, quotations, and commercial contract management.
  23. Ensuring the Company image is preserved, including other Abbott divisions.
  24. Carrying out duties in compliance with established business policies and procedures.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  1. A Master's degree or equivalent in Biological Science or a related field.
  2. At least 3 years of industry experience (diagnostic, point of care, medical devices) with ideally 5 years of experience in commercial activities.
  3. Proven experience within a commercial environment, on a sales role, with a clear customer orientation.
  4. Strong knowledge of the in-vitro diagnostic industry, especially infectious disease. Experience in biology (point of care) will be an important asset.
  5. Demonstrated expertise working successfully with KOLs and key decision-makers in the region.
  6. Familiarity with the diagnostic industry; thorough knowledge of the healthcare market in the country and territory (both public and private segments).
  7. Good English conversational level (CEF B1 minimum).
  8. Proficiency using Microsoft Office pack and other relevant systems.
