As a member of the Global Compliance department within Repsol's Wholesale and Gas Trading Division (WGT), the Compliance Specialist - Gas Trading will work to manage various risks while enabling trading operations from the compliance perspective.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement policies and internal controls to ensure compliance-related risks are sufficiently mitigated.
  • Continually improve the Trading Compliance program and internal control structure, identifying gaps and recommending risk-mitigating solutions.
  • Monitor and review trading activities to detect potential non-compliance events.
  • Support the operation of trade surveillance activities with the objectives of preventing, detecting, and investigating possible manipulative activities, policy violations, and/or other trading anomalies.
  • Lead the enterprise risk management and audit & assurance initiatives for the business.
  • Manage third-party risks.
  • Liaise with corporate functions such as Legal, Audit, Risk, etc. to support initiatives as needed.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Repsol's front-to-back office trading processes, and coordinate with other groups (e.g. Front-Office, Back-Office, Risk, Processes, IT, and Legal) to ensure that all processes are designed to operate in line with external and internal regulations.
  • Perform third-party due diligence activities, including understanding and monitoring international sanctions regimes and advising the business on other third-party risks (e.g. anti-bribery, etc.).
  • Develop operational compliance tools, including but not limited to: policies and procedures, internal checklists, roles & responsibilities charts, etc.
Requirements:
  • To properly assess Compliance, have knowledge of current gas and energy sector regulations in Spain and Europe.
  • Be knowledgeable of main regulators, associations, and players in the Gas Sector in Spain and Europe.
  • As this is a project-based and product-based job, be able to simultaneously manage multiple projects that have never been done before, collaborate in a very cross-functional environment, and execute in an agile fashion.
  • Be able to create value without any prior template or instruction is crucial – must be able to envision, design, and execute successful projects and products.
  • Communicate effectively with business-level fluency in English, as well as in Spanish; be comfortable with executive communication and public speaking, and can 'get things done' through others.
  • Can be multidisciplinary and use different skillsets to solve problems holistically in a variety of activities including: monitoring regulations, designing policies and controls, creating and delivering training content, frequently presenting to executives, and working with large data sets.
  • Understanding of complex energy physical and financial trading.
  • 3+ years industry experience in a similar position and/or level of responsibility.
  • High level of English.
