Electrical Engineer for Power Systems and Converter Control

Your Role in Our Vision
- Develop electrical simulation models for Wind Turbines and/or Wind Farms Regulators using Electromagnetic Transient models with specialized features (snapshot, encryption, multi-run).
- Create control algorithms for converters that address grid requirements.
- Integrate dynamic link libraries (DLLs) or automatically generated code.
- Evaluate model performance and analyze results, providing insights to other departments.
- Examine model performance in relation to Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) capabilities.
- Analyze modeling challenges.
- Document activities, including design reports, validation reports, and user manuals.
- Develop automation tools for running simulations and generating reports automatically.
Essential Technical Expertise:
Power System Engineering:
- Knowledge of transmission and distribution networks.
- Understanding of grid components: power transformers, power cables, reactive power compensation devices, and MV grid protection and distribution.
- Expertise in power electronics.
- Familiarity with electrical machines.
- Experience in harmonics analysis.
Converter Control Engineering:
- Design and control of power electronic converters.
- Application of control theory.
- Experience with power electronic drives, vector current control, and Pulse Width Modulation.
- Knowledge of grid-forming control systems.
- Real-time embedded control and implementation experience.
Power System Studies:
- Transient stability analysis (including LVRT and OVRT).
- Electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT).
- Dynamic studies in response to grid events or changes in power plant set points.
- Simulation and modeling of control and electrical systems.
- Small Signal Stability analysis of power systems.
Software Skills:
- Proficiency in PSCAD, including knowledge of Fortran compilers, compatibility issues, and encryption techniques.
- Creation and integration of compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools to enable advanced features such as multirun, multi-instance, and snapshot capabilities.
- Programming skills in Fortran and C.
- Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
- Familiarity with RSCAD (Real Time Digital Simulator software package).
What You Need to Make an Impact
Simulation & Modeling:
- Experience with wind turbines, particularly with type-3 and type-4 technologies for transient stability studies.
- Knowledge of wind power plants or renewable energy power plants requiring simultaneous control of multiple components to meet reference needs at the point of common coupling. This includes systems such as wind turbines, PV, and BESS.
- Experience in developing algorithms for controlling power plants, especially wind turbines, power converters, and/or renewable energy power plants. Familiarity with hybrid power plants is advantageous.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Self-driven with a proactive approach to finding innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
- A dedicated team player who thrives in a multicultural environment and possesses fluency in both spoken and written English.
