Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical simulation models for Wind Turbines and Wind Farms using Electromagnetic Transient models, incorporating features such as snapshot, encryption, and multi-run capabilities.
  • Integrate dynamic link libraries (DLLs) or automatically generated code into simulation frameworks.
  • Evaluate model performance and analyze results, providing insights to various departments.
  • Assess model performance in relation to Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) capabilities.
  • Analyze modeling issues and document all activities, including design reports, validation reports, and user manuals.
  • Create automation tools to facilitate simulation runs and generate reports automatically.

Required Technical Expertise:

Power System Engineering:

  • In-depth knowledge of transmission and distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with grid components such as power transformers, cables, reactive power compensation devices, and MV grid protection.
  • Proficiency in power electronics and electrical machines.
  • Experience in harmonics analysis.

Power System Studies:

  • Expertise in transient stability, particularly LVRT and OVRT.
  • Proficient in electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT).
  • Conduct dynamic studies in response to grid events or changes in power plant set points.
  • Simulation and modeling of control and electrical systems.
  • Small Signal Stability analysis of power systems.

Software Skills:

  • Proficient in PSCAD, with knowledge of Fortran compilers, compatibility issues, and encryption techniques.
  • Ability to create and integrate compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools for advanced features.
  • Programming skills in Fortran and C.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Familiarity with RSCAD (Real Time Digital Simulator) software package.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in developing PSCAD models.
  • A background in grid connection and familiarity with grid code requirements.
  • A B.Sc, M.Sc, or PhD in electrical or power systems engineering.
  • Experience with wind power plants or renewable energy power plants that require simultaneous control of multiple components.
  • Knowledge of algorithms for controlling power plants, particularly wind turbines and renewable energy systems, with hybrid power plant experience being advantageous.
