Job Summary

Chubb is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Corporate A&H business in Continental Europe, Middle East, and North Africa (CEMENA). As the Head of Corporate A&H Business Development, you will be responsible for driving sustainable and profitable growth across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy and Planning
    • Develop and execute the strategic plan for the Corporate A&H business in CEMENA, aligning with the company's overall business objectives.
    • Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and potential risks to develop effective business strategies and ensure long-term profitability.
    • Collaborate with the Chief Underwriting Officer and other key stakeholders to establish pricing strategies, underwriting guidelines, and risk management frameworks.
  • P&L Management
    • Take full ownership of the P&L for the Corporate A&H business in CEMENA.
    • Monitor financial performance, including GWP, NWP, NEP, UW Income, Loss Ratio %, Acquisition %, Admin %, and GAAP COR % to ensure targets are achieved.
    • Closely monitor Premium and Policy Retention and New Business activity (Premium and Policies) via Submission, quotes, and binds.
    • Implement necessary actions to optimize financial results by identifying cost-saving initiatives, managing expenses, and enhancing underwriting discipline.
  • Business Development and Broker Relationship Management
    • Manage the commercial activities with brokers, including the development and execution of broker engagement strategies.
    • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key brokers to drive business growth and retention by delivering tailored solutions and exceptional service.
    • Support the identification of local and regional new business opportunities and expand market share by proactively seeking out potential clients and leveraging existing relationships.
    • Be recognized as the leader for key Chubb A&H Broker relationships, being the focal point for issue resolution.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Create and cultivate a high-performance culture within the Corporate A&H team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
    • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, providing guidance and support to enhance individual and collective performance.
    • Ensure staff have clear PMP objectives and a personal development plan in place.
    • Foster a strong talent pipeline by attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent in alignment with business needs.
  • Underwriting and Risk Management
    • Work within your delegated underwriting authority to escalate key referrals to the IAH Chief Underwriting Officer.
    • Oversee compliance of regional underwriting team in evaluating risk exposures accurately and adhering to underwriting guidelines, pricing models, and risk appetite.
    • Oversight of the regional underwriting team, ensuring consistent and efficient underwriting practices.
    • Implement best practices in risk management, regulatory compliance, and portfolio optimization to mitigate potential risks.
  • Market Profiling
    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of insurance, competitor, and industry activity and provide market feedback.
    • Understand and map the broker landscape and available business universe for the designated sales area by both share of premium placed and A&H penetration into broker client base by product.
    • Conduct and oversee investigation into potential new areas of opportunity for profitable growth.
  • Activity Management
    • Ensure adequate MI is available to manage new business and renewal performance.
    • Work with the Chief Underwriting Officer to ensure Portfolio tools are available for staff to understand performance at a producer level.
    • Working with underwriters to enhance profitability and address any profitability challenges.
    • Working effectively to generate and support cross-selling opportunities from other Lines of Business.
  • Legal & Compliance
    • Ensure all business underwritten within the CEMENA region is done so on a compliant basis and that any issues identified are expediently escalated to A&H Senior Management and the appropriate L&C colleagues.
    • Meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business, and compliance issues.
    • Work within the framework of CHUBB ethical and service standards.
