Our extensive online operations necessitate Value Added Tax (VAT) submissions across various jurisdictions in Europe, leading to specific compliance responsibilities for third-party sellers (3P) utilizing our platforms.

The European VAT Compliance & Controllership team (VAT C&C), primarily based in London and Bratislava, is tasked with overseeing these 3P obligations.

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Tax Analyst to become an integral part of our VAT C&C team in Bratislava.

This role involves collaborating with a segment of the team dedicated to verifying the VAT compliance status of our 3P sellers, supplying relevant data to tax authorities, and managing the access of 3P sellers to our marketplaces.

Additional responsibilities may encompass standard VAT compliance tasks, supporting both internal and external audits, and coordinating with colleagues in VAT C&C, Tax, and the broader organization. A solid understanding of financial systems and technical accounting principles will be essential for success in this position.

You may also engage in projects that impact VAT compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify the VAT registration and compliance status of 3P sellers;
  • Provide transactional and other necessary data to tax authorities regarding 3P sellers;
  • Manage and oversee the access of 3P sellers to Amazon marketplaces based on their VAT compliance status and requests from tax authorities;
  • Assist with VAT registrations across different jurisdictions;
  • Address VAT compliance inquiries from Amazon businesses operating throughout Europe;
  • Support internal and external audits, including data analysis;
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization, particularly within accounting teams;
  • Participate in cross-functional projects;
  • Map VAT compliance processes and identify opportunities for enhancement;

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
  • Experience in a large public accounting firm or a multinational corporate tax department;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a multinational finance and/or VAT compliance role;
  • Fluency in Mandarin, both verbal and written, to communicate with tax authorities;
  • Professional tax or finance qualifications or similar credentials are advantageous;
  • Technical expertise in programming languages (SQL, VBA, Python, etc.);
  • Proficient documentation of operational procedures to address known risk patterns;
  • Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented;
  • A collaborative team player with a hands-on approach;
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks, implement changes, and adopt a problem-solving mindset;
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks;
