Position Overview

As a Senior Technical Support Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional post-sales technical assistance to our End User Customers through various communication channels including phone, email, and web. Your responsibilities will include maintaining detailed records of support cases, documenting technical solutions, and contributing to our knowledge base. You will engage in troubleshooting customer issues and qualifying escalations while collaborating with teams across Development, Sales, Quality Assurance, and Marketing to enhance the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Tier 3 technical support to both customers and partners.
  • Offer configurations, troubleshooting advice, and best practices to clients.
  • Manage support cases to ensure timely recording, tracking, resolution, and follow-up of issues.
  • Conduct fault isolation and root cause analysis for various technical challenges.
  • Publish Technical Support Bulletins and contribute to the Knowledge Base.
  • Review technical documentation for training materials, marketing collateral, manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participate in on-call duties as needed.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of threat-specific escalation processes.
  • Engage in internal tool development.
  • Perform due diligence in malware or exploit analysis as a Senior Engineer.
  • Create and deliver threat-specific training materials for the Technical Assistance Center (TAC).
  • Collaborate directly with ETAC, PanAV, DevOps, and Software Engineering to resolve customer issues.
  • Conduct Technical Case Audits to identify educational opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in other major European languages is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a Technical Support environment is essential.
  • Expert knowledge of the threat landscape, technologies, and techniques, including malware and exploit behaviors.
  • Experience in security roles, particularly in malware response.
  • Proficiency in Wireshark/TCPDump for packet capture troubleshooting, especially with HTTP/SSL/SMB.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of Windows OS functionality, including debugging and registry editing.
  • Advanced technical skills in TCP/IP, HTTP, PKI & SSL, and intrusion detection/prevention.
  • High-level knowledge of regular expressions and evasion techniques, as well as URL filtering.
  • Programming experience in shell, Perl, or Python is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
  • Hands-on experience in Routing & Switching (OSPF/BGP/VLAN/STP).
  • Significant experience with Security protocols (IPSEC/SSL-VPN/NAT/GRE).
  • Familiarity with Layer 7 application protocols (DNS, DHCP, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS) is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Cisco security products, Checkpoint, Juniper, or Fortinet is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Authentication Protocols (Radius/TACACS) is a plus.
  • Ability to independently debug complex networks with diverse media and protocols.
