Environmental Health and Safety Manager

As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager at Tenneco, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's commitment to excellence and innovation is reflected in its EHS practices. This position requires a strong leader who can provide EHS leadership to the site, support EHS activities, and drive a zero-incident EHS culture.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Site EHS Performance: Develop and implement EHS objectives and targets, and ensure internal reporting of EHS performance.
- Communicate Regulatory Requirements: Communicate national, area, and local regulatory requirements to the site, and ensure documents are available in the local languages.
- Facilitate Risk Assessment: Facilitate risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects, and work with the leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
- Develop and Track Performance Indicators: Determine appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
- Support EHS Goals and Objectives: Support the creation of EHS goals for the site manager and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
- Drive EHS Culture: Drive and promote a zero-incident EHS culture throughout the site.
- Facilitate EHS Engagement: Create and facilitate EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
- Ensure Compliance: Work with the leadership team and EHS element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.
- Pursue Recognition: Pursue third-party recognition for programs that establish the site and Tenneco's EHS program as world-class.
- Manage EHS Data: Use established EHS data processes such as AEGIS to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, and EHS action items.
- Develop Training Matrices: Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion.
- Ensure Operational Controls: Work with the site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, or equivalent.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience with an emphasis in health and safety program management and employee training in an industrial environment.
- Language: Fluent English.
- Industry Knowledge: Comprehension of industry, state, and country EHS requirements.
- Leadership Skills: Strong team-building skills and organizational skills.
- Technical Skills: Adept at utilizing company-wide systems for reporting EHS data and information.
- Managerial Courage: Ability to demonstrate managerial courage, including managing varied interests representing potential conflicts.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams.
