Job Summary

East Tennessee Children's Hospital seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Quality Management and Patient Safety to lead our quality management department and infection control programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, maintaining, and supervising quality management initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality management strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce preventable harm.
  • Collaborate with medical staff leadership and other clinical and administrative leaders to develop and implement priorities to improve clinical outcomes and align with strategic initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and support for current best practice methods to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes, emphasizing human factors in a just culture.
  • Serve as an internal consultant and educator to hospital and medical staff on performance measurement for compliance with external requirements.
  • Oversee ongoing review for compliance, effective processes, and improved relevancy for ongoing professional performance evaluation (OPPE) and peer review.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and/or educate as needed in the root cause analysis process and the pro-active risk analysis process.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of multiple measures and databases utilized in quality management and infection control activities.
  • Serve as the ETCH quality/patient safety liaison in external pediatric groups and report benefit activities and communicate benefit stories.
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in quality management or an acute care setting, with a focus on pediatrics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent leadership, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, and strong analytical skills.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification, and TN or Compact RN Licensure.
