Job Overview

The Software Sales Engineer at AVL plays a crucial role in identifying customer needs for Simulation & Testing Software and translating these needs into cost-effective technical solutions. This position involves coordinating technical proposals and quotations for all customer needs and requests, as well as visiting customer sites to build relationships and drive sales.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and Coordinate Technical Solutions: Develop and coordinate technical solutions and quotations in response to customer requirements for AVL Simulation & Testing Software.
  2. Identify New Business Opportunities: Identify new business opportunities for AVL Software Business Unit and develop strategies to pursue them.
  3. Build and Maintain Customer Relationships: Develop relationships within the existing customer base and acquire new customers, driving sales and achieving business targets.
  4. Present and Demonstrate Software: Make presentations and conduct software demonstrations at customer locations or via online meetings to showcase AVL's portfolio.
  5. Ensure Customer Satisfaction: Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to understand customer needs and promote understanding of the AVL portfolio, ensuring a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.
  6. Support Sales Planning: Prepare sales plans using company tools and support forecasting planning tasks to ensure alignment with business targets.
  7. Provide Market Feedback: Develop and maintain a high level of technical expertise in AVL SW solutions and provide market feedback for future software development and improvement.
  8. Execute Go-to-Market Strategies: Ensure local execution of go-to-market strategies and product launches, supporting customers during the onboarding phase and collecting customer satisfaction information.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or other related Software Engineering fields. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish are required, with German being desirable. Candidates should be self-motivated and capable of setting and executing strategies to accomplish goals, with excellent relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills. A self-confident personality with communication and intercultural skills and a high technical understanding is essential. Sales or sales support experience is preferred, along with a highly customer-focused attitude and the ability to solve customer-related issues to mutual satisfaction. Candidates should be capable of planning, prioritizing, and coordinating workloads with minimal guidance and have a willingness to travel (10%). Knowledge of the automotive industry and its current challenges is also required.
