Support Technician for the Microscopy Platform

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Support Technician to join our Microscopy Platform team at the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support and assistance to researchers and scientists in the use of our advanced microscopy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and training to users on the operation and maintenance of our microscopy equipment.
  • Develop and implement new protocols and applications for image analysis and data management.
  • Manage and register the preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, ensuring compliance with quality procedures.
  • Control and purchase consumable materials, and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and user guides.
  • Participate in training activities and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operation of the Microscopy Platform.
Requirements
  • University degree in Health/Life Sciences or related field.
  • Master's degree and/or PhD in biomedical research or related field.
  • Fluency in English (B2 level or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a microscopy core-facility, using widefield and confocal microscopes at operator level.
  • Demonstrable experience in cell culture and sample preparation techniques used in optical microscopy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
