The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Research Group. As a key member of our team, you will provide scientific support to our research activities, focusing on the development and application of nanoparticles, nanosystems, and nanomotors in bioengineering, biotechnological, and biomedical fields.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and synthesize micro- and nanoparticles (inorganic and organic) to support group members' research activities.
- Assist in projects related to 3D printing and provide expertise in the synthesis of nanoparticles.
- Maintain and manage analytical and characterization tools, including equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Support sample preparation and characterization using microscopy techniques such as SEM and TEM.
- Organize and manage lab operations, including reagent and equipment ordering, and coordinate with other technicians and the Group Leader.
- Introduce new lab members to facilities and lab rules, and provide training on equipment and lab procedures.
- Manage equipment reservation calendars and train new users on equipment and lab procedures.
- Responsible for on-boarding and check-out of group members, and manage lab spaces and computers.
- Act as a liaison between researchers and various departments, including IT, Core Facilities, Health & Safety, Finances, and Communications.
- Ensure lab safety and compliance with regulations.
- Master's degree in chemistry, nanoscience and nanotechnology, nanomaterials, chemistry biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in the synthesis of nanoparticles (inorganic or organic) and characterization techniques (e.g., DLS, Z-potential, spectroscopy techniques).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
- High level of English proficiency.
- Advantageous: experience as a Lab Technician in international labs, and expertise in electronic microscopy (e.g., SEM, TEM).
