Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary:
MCI is seeking a highly skilled Accounts Payable Analyst to join our team. As an Accounts Payable Analyst, you will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices, and maintaining vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Processing: Receive, review, and process invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Vendor Management: Verify invoice details, including prices, quantities, terms, and approvals, and resolve discrepancies as needed. Maintain vendor accounts, including setup, maintenance, and communication regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies.
- Payment Processing: Prepare and process payment batches, including checks, electronic transfers, and ACH payments, in accordance with payment terms and deadlines.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile payments with invoices and ensure proper documentation and authorization for all transactions. Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Analysis and Reporting: Analyze accounts payable data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements. Prepare periodic reports and ad-hoc analyses for management review and decision-making purposes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal control policies related to accounts payable processes.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 3+ years experience in accounts payable or related accounting functions, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.
- Personal Qualities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with vendors and stakeholders.
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment.
- Physical Requirements: The employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset.
