Job Title: Payroll Operations Specialist

At Mass Markets, we are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations Specialist to join our team. As a Payroll Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our payroll processing and accounts receivable functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Verify that all new-hire information is in the system and resolve any outstanding issues promptly.
  • Tax Compliance: Establish and set up tax information in new states, resolving any outstanding issues with current states.
  • Approval Management: Verify that approvals for all increases and promotions are received on time.
  • Employee Setup: Confirm that individuals are set up in the correct earning and deduction groups.
  • HRIS Management: Make all changes in the HRIS system.
  • Off-Cycle Payrolls: Process off-cycle payrolls for any items that were missed during the regularly scheduled payrolls.
  • Employee Issues: Research any employee issues concerning missing pay.
  • Client Setup: Verify that all clients are in the system and all employees are assigned to the correct client.
  • Timecard Approval: Confirm approval of timecards and track down missing punches to be able to pull in time for payroll.
  • Leave Management: Handle all leave requests and ensure we have the proper documentation to grant or deny leave.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years previous payroll processing experience.
  • Federal and State tax laws knowledge.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of payroll processes: garnishments, benefit deductions, taxes, FMLA experience, Work Comp experience, LOA experience.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Possess strong time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset.
