About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Spain. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as providing expert legal advice to support the growth and development of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Negotiating Agreements: You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and other legal documents related to the development of data centre and light industrial/logistics projects.
  • Legal Risk Management: You will stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting the company and proactively advise the organization on potential legal risks and opportunities.
  • Compliance and Governance: You will ensure compliance with the company's policies, standards, and values, and train and educate the Spanish team on relevant legal and compliance matters.
  • External Partnerships: You will involve and manage external law firms in an effective and timely manner, ensuring fair costs and efficient outcomes.
  • Dispute Resolution: You will ensure the coordination of legal disputes and/or litigation, working closely with the European legal team and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Law: You must hold a Master's degree in law from a Spanish university, with additional degrees or LLMs considered a plus.
  • Contract Law Expertise: You must have excellent knowledge of contract law, construction law, and energy law, with a strong interest in regulatory changes triggered by sustainability.
  • Proven Experience: You must have at least 8 years of proven experience as a legal counsel or a similar role in a company or law firm, with a minimum of 5 years in construction law for major infrastructure projects and/or data centers.
  • Contract Negotiation Skills: You must have experience with drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts related to energy, power, and grid connection and use, RIBA, and other design engineering and architect services, EPC agreements, and procurement.
  • Strong Analytical and Communication Skills: You must have strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and handle complex legal matters.
  • Language Skills: You must have perfect knowledge of Spanish and English, both written and spoken, with additional knowledge of Catalan considered a plus.
  • Travel and Flexibility: You must be able to travel on short notice and work on multiple projects under tight time pressure in a fast-changing environment.
