Senior Legal Counsel

As a Senior Legal Counsel at Swift, you will play a critical role in supporting procurement activities with a strong focus on intellectual property, IT, and new technologies. You will provide sound legal advice and counsel to ensure compliance with legal requirements and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Legal Advice and Counsel: Plan and execute legal activities of large complexity to provide company-wide sound legal advice and counsel to support SWIFT activities and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Research and Analysis: Provide legal support in company's new projects by undertaking research on specific legal problems and issues, and offering opinions and counsel.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and recommend company contracts, participate in negotiations, and recommend amendments to contracts worldwide for customers, suppliers, development projects, and network.
- Policy Development: Set standards for company contracts and draft, review, and recommend legal policies and procedures.
- Litigation Management: Coordinate and follow up worldwide litigation with management, staff, and lawyers to ensure best possible settlement, and negotiate claims with third parties to avoid litigation.
- Communication and Liaison: Liaise with management and staff, customers, suppliers, lawyers, public administrations, and other stakeholders.
- Administrative Tasks: Coordinate administrative tasks within the department and be an effective back-up for the manager and colleagues.
- Knowledge Management: Maintain and develop own understanding of evolutions in relevant areas of the law, including commercial and competition laws, licensing issues, and telecommunication matters, to identify potential impact on SWIFT operations.
- Team Leadership: Drive and assist less senior counsel in performing tasks, review work of outside counsels, and manage a risk area and control framework on a project basis.
- Delivering Results: Decides on and pursues the best course of action to deliver results following in-depth analyses of relevant issues and conflicting factors, and after assessing foreseeable risks.
- Operational Excellence: Sets clear standards for quality of work, adheres to and encourages a continuous improvement mindset, and implements procedures, standards, and policies to ensure operational success.
- Knowledge Expansion: Continually extends specialist knowledge as a means of anticipating and preparing for changes in the business, and uses a variety of methods and opportunities to learn and to exchange knowledge.
- Business Understanding and Commercial Sense: Applies understanding of how different divisions contribute to meeting SWIFT's business objectives, understands market drivers of success, and encourages changes to improve offerings while optimising commercial performance.
- Customer Focus: Builds and maintains effective working relationships with a range of customers, actively listens to and translates complex needs into appropriate solutions, and remains sensitive to the complexities of the business and SWIFT's commitment to integrity in all relationships.
- Team Leadership: Encourages effective team working within and across the department, respects diversity, and recognises contributions from colleagues.
- Communication: Communicates business strategies and approaches in challenging circumstances, adjusts communication style to optimise effectiveness in a multi-lingual environment, and provides clarification of key corporate initiatives and messages.
