We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Spain. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to our business teams.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Management: Draft, review, negotiate, and manage agreements and other legal documents related to data centre and light industrial/logistics projects, including energy, power, and grid connection and use, RIBA and other design engineering and architect services, EPC agreements, and procurement.
- Legal Risk Management: Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, case law, and industry trends impacting the company, and proactively advise the organisation on potential legal risks and opportunities.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with the company's policies, standards, and values, and train and educate the Spanish team on relevant legal and compliance matters.
- External Partnerships: Involve and manage external law firms in an effective and timely way and at fair cost.
- Dispute Resolution: Ensure the coordination of legal disputes and/or litigation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work in close collaboration with the other Legal Counsel in Madrid and the European legal team, the Spanish business team, and the wider European team.
- Education: Master's degree in law from a Spanish university. Additional degree or LLM is considered a plus.
- Experience: At least 8 years of proven experience as a legal counsel or a similar role in a company or law firm, of which a minimum of 5 years in construction law for major (infrastructure) projects and/or data centers.
- Skills: Excellent knowledge of contract law, construction law, and energy law with a strong interest in all regulatory changes triggered by sustainability.
