Indirect Tax Specialist

Role Purpose Statement:
The Indirect Tax Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely fulfillment of VAT compliance obligations within the regional finance organization of Bunge in Barcelona. This role will support the development of the indirect tax technology strategy, focusing on automation and continuous improvement of VAT processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with Bunge's policies and procedures.
Main Accountabilities:
- Proactively identify and resolve issues found in the reconciliation and VAT compliance process.
- Ensure VAT, Intrastat, and ESL are reported correctly and timely for the assigned VAT registrations.
- E-filing of declarations in a secure internet environment.
- Collaborate with the cash team to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Perform VAT reconciliations and work with Accounts Payable and Execution teams to ensure correct VAT treatment of transactions.
- Provide training to internal departments to expand their VAT knowledge, ensuring the VAT compliance status of the company.
- Advise on ad hoc VAT issues.
- Support the Indirect Tax Team with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Support local Tax managers in handling external VAT audits and queries.
- Participate in projects to improve the VAT compliance process.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as an Indirect Tax Specialist.
- 3+ years of professional practice in multinational companies.
- Fluent in Spanish and English required; German is a plus.
- Significant experience in accounting and knowledge of European VAT rules and regulations.
- Numerical and analytical skills are required, along with system knowledge (SAP, SAP S/4 HANA).
