The Indirect Tax Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely fulfillment of VAT compliance obligations within the regional finance organization of Bunge in Barcelona. This role will support the development of the indirect tax technology strategy, focusing on automation and continuous improvement of VAT processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with Bunge's policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities- VAT Compliance: The Indirect Tax Specialist will be responsible for the preparation and timely submission of declarations and VAT returns for all EU VAT registrations entities.
- Process Improvement: The role will involve proactively following up and resolving issues found in the reconciliation and VAT compliance process, ensuring VAT, Intrastat, and ESL are reported correctly and timely for the assigned VAT registrations.
- Financial Analysis: The Indirect Tax Specialist will perform VAT reconciliations and follow up with Accounts Payable team and Execution teams to ensure correct VAT treatment of transactions.
- Training and Development: The role will involve providing training to internal departments to expand their VAT knowledge, ensuring the VAT compliance status of the company.
- Advisory Services: The Indirect Tax Specialist will advise on ad hoc VAT issues and support the Indirect Tax Team with a continuous improvement mindset.
- External Audits: The role will involve supporting the local Tax managers in handling external VAT Audits and queries.
- Project Support: The Indirect Tax Specialist will participate in projects to improve VAT compliance processes.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as an Indirect Tax Specialist in a multinational company.
- Language Skills: Fluent in Spanish and English, with German being a plus.
- Knowledge and Skills: Significant experience in accounting and knowledge of European VAT rules and regulations, numerical and analytical skills, and system knowledge (SAP, SAP S/4 HANA).
