Position Overview:
The Avionics Technical Support Specialist will deliver on-site technical assistance for Panasonic IFE/GCS (In-Flight Entertainment/Global Communication Services) products that are installed or in the process of being installed on customer aircraft. The individual in this role will gather, analyze, and report on system performance metrics, both internally and externally, while fostering a strong working relationship with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and leadership to maintenance personnel regarding all facets of IFE/GCS installation and upkeep.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving system challenges, collaborating with Panasonic Customer Support Engineers and Technical Support Engineers as necessary.
  • Execute tasks assigned through the Panasonic Ticketing system, ensuring clarity in task interpretation.
  • Oversee and support tasks generated by the Panasonic Ticketing system, coordinating new system introductions and technical requirements for new customer entries.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of cross-departmental processes and service provider offerings that may influence overall system performance.
  • Monitor program schedule commitments in collaboration with the Service Program Manager, addressing potential impacts or modifications.
  • Contribute to the development of Preventative Maintenance programs.
  • Establish and maintain performance reporting criteria for IFE/GCS systems for both Panasonic and customer stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between contracted MRO staff, Panasonic Product Safety Officer, and Panasonic QA regarding air safety matters.
  • Support software and hardware upgrades for the implementation of Service Bulletins and related documentation.
  • Represent Panasonic's Maintenance and Support organization to clients.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant customer departments, particularly concerning production-related processes and various Panasonic divisions.
  • Assist in reporting on IFE/GCS system performance.
  • Identify and report opportunities for process improvements both from the customer-facing side and within Panasonic.

Administrative Duties:

  • Document testing and repairs utilizing computer and bar-coding technology.
  • Collaborate closely with MRO to monitor and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Participate in the implementation of Information Service Letters, Technical Information Letters, Maintenance Memos, and other relevant communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • 4-7 years of experience in aircraft maintenance or technical support roles, preferably within avionics.
  • A&P, FCC Class 1, EASA B1 and/or B2 certifications with relevant type ratings are highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in avionics, particularly with satellite communications and troubleshooting satellite networks.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to instructions, procedures, blueprints, diagrams, and manuals, as well as follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering applications for technical communication and training purposes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Background in electronics and troubleshooting, typically gained through commercial aviation, military experience, or technical education, combined with a minimum of 8 years in the industry.
  • Fluency in English or relevant language (location-specific), both spoken and written, with the ability to convey complex technical terminology.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on software (Linux).
  • Intermediate knowledge of LINUX and UNIX is advantageous.
  • Understanding of PC networks and configurations, including multiplexed or software-controlled systems and computer hardware.
  • Familiarity with global civil aviation regulations and requirements (EASA/FAA).
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in delivering technical coaching and training.
  • Ability to pass extensive security and background checks for access to restricted areas.
  • Legal authorization to work in the assigned location.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% of the time, to provide support as needed.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
