The Senior Manager of Airport Automation is tasked with overseeing a suite of initiatives designed to improve customer satisfaction and operational productivity at the airports serviced by IAG airlines, encompassing both Hub and Non-Hub locations. This position plays a pivotal role in spearheading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as biometrics, self-service kiosks, robotics, machine vision, and artificial intelligence, alongside projects aimed at enhancing processes that yield benefits for the airlines within the group. The role is essential for fast-tracking the deployment of automation technologies across our primary and secondary airports as part of a broader transformation strategy. Additionally, it ensures alignment with IAG's strategic goals, business needs, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
- Implementing the program strategy, roadmap, and governance framework for airport automation in collaboration with the airlines within the group.
- Focusing on identifying project benefits and assessing their impact.
- Building and sustaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including airport authorities, technology providers, and regulatory bodies.
- Facilitating the sharing of insights and best practices among the airlines in the group, promoting successful strategies across the board.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings within Hub and Non-Hub airports, whether through automation or process enhancements.
- Leading and inspiring a team of project managers, business analysts, technical specialists, and change management professionals.
- Collaborating closely with regional commercial and operational teams within IAG and the airlines to ensure the realization of benefits from automation or process improvement initiatives.
- Guiding the innovation process from concept through discovery, testing, implementation, and scaling.
- Monitoring and reporting on program progress, performance metrics, quality, and outcomes.
- Owning the development and finalization of category plans, business plans, financial plans, and the automation program.
- Ensuring adherence to IAG's policies, procedures, standards, and values.
- Identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities and best practices for airport automation.
- Managing stakeholder relationships with suppliers, airports, ground handlers, and all operating companies, ensuring robust challenge while fulfilling business plans.
- Establishing effective working relationships with key interfaces across the Group and operating companies, including finance, legal, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
- Experience in program or project management, ideally within the aviation, transportation, or technology sectors.
- A proven history of delivering complex, large-scale, and innovative solutions that align with customer needs and business objectives.
- Knowledge of airport operations, processes, and systems, along with emerging technologies and trends in airport automation.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills, capable of engaging effectively with senior executives, technical experts, and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a knack for inspiring, motivating, and empowering others.
- A strong reputation for executing change with a credible and proven track record.
- A resilient mindset, willing to take calculated risks for the benefit of the group while understanding the importance of learning from failures.
- Highly developed interpersonal, advocacy, and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Proficiency in written and spoken English; Spanish is a plus.
