Position Overview:

Rockwell Automation - Kalypso is currently seeking an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer. We welcome applications from recent graduates as well.

For over 25 years, our team has leveraged our software and engineering expertise to develop advanced analytics and model predictive control applications for a diverse clientele. Our solutions seamlessly integrate with existing manufacturing infrastructures, driving enhancements in product quality, production efficiency, and energy conservation. Our operations span multiple industries, providing our team with extensive exposure to various manufacturing processes. Presently, we are experiencing significant growth in sectors such as food production, polymers, biofuels, refining, and mineral processing.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Advanced Process Control Engineer, you will play a crucial role in custom application delivery teams, utilizing Rockwell Automation's advanced analytics and model predictive control tools to develop online applications aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting technical project activities, including design, system integration, data analysis, application development, site installation, and commissioning.
  • Identifying and communicating technical challenges to the Regional Technical Manager (RTM) that may affect project outcomes.
  • Providing the RTM with updates on project performance, including cost management and adherence to performance guarantees.
  • Assisting in documenting best practices for application development.
  • Leading advanced analytics initiatives and mentoring junior engineers.

Customer Support:

  • Delivering engineering and application support to existing clients.
  • Performing regular system and application evaluations, analyzing performance, and preparing reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Following up on recommendations to ensure sustained value from our applications.

Sales Support:

  • Assisting the Solution Consultant in market development efforts as directed by the Regional Delivery Manager (RDM).
  • Participating in sales closure activities as needed.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Pursuing professional development opportunities to maintain billability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supporting project staffing processes to optimize delivery department margins.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemical engineering or a related field with a strong emphasis on modeling, statistics, or process control.
  • A keen interest in automation, process control, and advanced model-predictive applications.
  • Self-driven with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects within a process industry.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, industrial control systems, and supervisory control applications.
  • Experience in advanced process control implementation or business case development.
  • Knowledge of DCS (SCADA, HMI, etc.) and/or PLC configuration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including potential international assignments.
  • Compliance with customer safety and health protocols, including drug testing and safety training.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years of experience in implementing advanced control solutions in a process manufacturing context.
  • Leadership experience in managing complex projects.
  • A degree in chemical engineering or a related field with a focus on modeling, statistics, or process control.
  • Experience with industrial computing, networking, and data communication protocols such as OPC and ODBC/SQL.
  • Familiarity with DCS (SCADA, HMI, etc.) and/or PLC configuration, particularly regarding integration with external applications.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation or competing model predictive control products.
  • Knowledge of predictive emissions monitoring systems from Rockwell Automation or competitors.
