Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power System and Converter Control Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced control systems for wind turbines and converters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement electrical simulation models for wind turbines and converters using Electromagnetic Transient models.
  • Design and develop converter control algorithms for grid features.
  • Integrate DLLs or automatically generated code into simulation tools.
  • Test model performance and analyze results, providing inputs to other departments.
  • Assess model performance against wind turbine capabilities.
  • Analyze modeling issues and document activities, including design reports, validation reports, and user manuals.
  • Develop automation tools to run simulations and create reports automatically.
Technical Requirements
  • Power System Engineering: transmission and distribution networks, grid elements, power electronics, electrical machines, and harmonics analysis.
  • Converter Control Engineering: power electronic converter design and control, control theory and application, power electronic drives, vector current control, Pulse Width Modulation, and grid forming control systems.
  • Power System Studies: transient stability, electromagnetic transients simulation, dynamic studies, simulation and modeling of control and electrical systems, and small signal stability analysis of power systems.
Software Skills
  • PSCAD: knowledge of Fortran compilers, compatibility issues, and encryption techniques.
  • Creation and integration of compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools, allowing advanced features: multirun, multi-instance, and snapshot features.
  • Fortran and C programming.
  • MATLAB and Simulink.
  • RSCAD (software package) – Real Time Digital Simulator.
Requirements
  • Simulation & Modeling: wind turbines, desirable experience with type-3 and type-4 technologies for transient stability studies.
