Electrical Engineer for Power Systems and Converter Control

We are currently seeking a Power System and Converter Control Engineer to enhance our Grid Connection department.
Key Responsibilities
- Create electrical simulation models for Wind Turbines and/or Wind Farms regulators in Electromagnetic Transient models, incorporating specific features such as snapshot, encryption, and multi-run capabilities.
- Develop control algorithms for converters tailored to grid requirements.
- Integrate dynamic link libraries (DLLs) or automatically generated code into simulation environments.
- Evaluate model performance and analyze results, providing insights to various departments.
- Conduct assessments of model performance in relation to Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) capabilities.
- Analyze modeling issues and document activities, including design reports, validation reports, and user manuals.
- Create automation tools to facilitate simulation runs and generate reports automatically.
Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
Power System Engineering:
- Understanding of transmission and distribution networks.
- Familiarity with grid components, including power transformers, cables, reactive power compensation devices, and MV grid protection.
- Knowledge of power electronics and electrical machines.
- Proficiency in harmonics analysis.
Converter Control Engineering:
- Experience in power electronic converter design and control.
- Knowledge of control theory and its applications.
- Familiarity with power electronic drives, vector current control, and Pulse Width Modulation.
- Understanding of grid-forming control systems and real-time embedded control.
Power System Studies:
- Experience with transient stability, particularly LVRT and OVRT.
- Proficiency in electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT).
- Knowledge of dynamic studies and control system simulation.
- Familiarity with small signal stability analysis of power systems.
Software Proficiency:
- Strong knowledge of PSCAD, including fortran compilers and compatibility issues.
- Experience in creating and integrating compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools.
- Proficiency in Fortran and C programming.
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink.
- Experience with RSCAD (Real Time Digital Simulator).
Simulation & Modeling:
- Experience with wind turbines, particularly type-3 and type-4 technologies for transient stability studies.
- Familiarity with renewable energy power plants, focusing on the control of multiple components at the point of common coupling.
- Knowledge of algorithms for controlling power plants, especially wind turbines and renewable energy systems.
Additional Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical topics effectively.
- Self-driven with a proactive approach to solving intricate technical challenges.
- Strong team player with the ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and fluency in English.
