Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Power System and Converter Control Engineer to enhance our Grid Connection department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical simulation models for Wind Turbines and Wind Farms, focusing on Electromagnetic Transient models with unique features.
- Create and refine converter control algorithms tailored for grid functionalities.
- Integrate DLLs or automatically generated code into simulation environments.
- Evaluate model performance and analyze results, providing insights to various departments.
- Conduct performance assessments of models against Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) capabilities.
- Analyze modeling challenges and document activities, including design and validation reports.
- Design automation tools for running simulations and generating reports efficiently.
Required Expertise
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Power System engineering, including transmission and distribution networks.
- Knowledge of grid components such as transformers, cables, and reactive power devices.
- Expertise in power electronics and electrical machines.
- Familiarity with harmonics analysis.
Converter Control Knowledge:
- Experience in designing and controlling power electronic converters.
- Understanding of control theory and its applications.
- Skills in vector current control and Pulse Width Modulation.
- Knowledge of Grid Forming control systems and real-time embedded control.
Power System Studies:
- Conduct transient stability analysis, particularly LVRT and OVRT.
- Perform electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT).
- Execute dynamic studies in response to grid events.
- Model control and electrical systems effectively.
- Analyze small signal stability in power systems.
Software Proficiency:
- Expertise in PSCAD, including knowledge of Fortran compilers and compatibility issues.
- Ability to create and integrate compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools.
- Proficient in Fortran, C programming, MATLAB, and Simulink.
- Familiarity with RSCAD for Real Time Digital Simulation.
Simulation & Modeling Experience:
- Experience with wind turbines, especially type-3 and type-4 technologies.
- Background in modeling renewable energy power plants, including wind and PV systems.
- Knowledge of algorithms for controlling power plants, particularly in hybrid systems.
Additional Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical topics effectively.
- Self-driven with a knack for innovative problem-solving.
- Team-oriented with the ability to thrive in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Proficient in both spoken and written English.
