Assistant Housekeeping Manager - Leadership Role

About the Role:

This is a leadership position within the Housekeeping Department at SLS Barcelona, responsible for assisting the Housekeeping Manager in all daily operations and overall department management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Housekeeping Manager in managing the department's daily operations, including third-party companies.
  2. Oversee the control of budget and monthly financial closure of department costs.
  3. Ensure all departmental service standards and sequences of service are upheld, maintaining a high level of quality and cleanliness.
  4. Collaborate with all housekeeping partners on a day-to-day basis to ensure seamless operations.
  5. Maintain a close relationship with the Front Office and Engineering Team to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  6. Address guest issues promptly and provide excellent customer service to ensure guest satisfaction.
  7. Manage inventory levels, controlling costs per room for supplies, and maintain a high level of efficiency.
  8. Support in managing day-to-day staffing requirements, including planning, assigning work, and establishing performance and development goals for employees.
  9. Provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve employee performance.
  10. Conduct regular inspections to ensure public areas, guest rooms/suites, equipment, and linens are clean and in good repair.
  11. Supervise laundry operations to ensure high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.
  12. Support in handling complaints and special requests of guests, VIPs, and repeat visitors to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
  13. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties effectively.
  14. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department managers.
  15. Assist with deep cleaning projects and/or assist housekeeping staff during high volume periods as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  2. Previous experience with the pre-opening of a hotel is a significant advantage.
  3. Someone who understands, celebrates, and embodies the SLS brand values.
  4. Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation, natural at managing and inspiring others.
  5. Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and have a high-level attention to detail.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
  7. Ability to make people feel valued - your team, guests, and colleagues alike.
  8. Excellent relationship builder, confident in working with other teams and leaders.
  9. Ability to take ownership of important issues, solve problems, and make effective decisions.
  10. Quick learner who can adapt to SLS's unique culture.
