Manager & Counsel - General Counsel's Organisation

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager & Counsel to join our General Counsel's Organisation at American Express. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice and support to our business units on all aspects of data protection, privacy, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities- Advising Business Units: Provide day-to-day data protection and privacy guidance to our business units across the region.
- Supporting New Product Launches: Assist in the development and launch of new products and initiatives, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
- Drafting Commercial Agreements: Draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to data protection and privacy, including data processing agreements and international transfer agreements.
- Developing Data Privacy Policies: Oversee the development and maintenance of data privacy-related policies and guidance, including reviewing and drafting privacy notices and disclosures.
- Staying Up-to-Date with Regulations: Monitor and assess changes to laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance, ensuring our business units are compliant and mitigating risk.
- Supporting Data Privacy Training: Provide support for data privacy training and awareness across the organization.
- Qualifications: Qualified to practice law in Spain or other European jurisdictions.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant data protection and privacy experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
- Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of EU data protection and privacy laws and regulatory guidance, including the EU GDPR, the e-Privacy Directive, and EDPB guidance.
- Skills: Strong technical legal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide clear, precise, and pragmatic advice.
- Team Player: A team player with great stakeholder management skills who can effectively collaborate and build relationships with lawyers and business clients throughout the organization.
