Job Description

This is a 12-month contract position with a hybrid working arrangement, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

General Summary: The Marketing Specialist Iberia plays a key role in the day-to-day execution of the marketing strategy by deploying marketing tactics, measuring their success, and ensuring effective delivery to customers in support of Vertex business in Spain. This role participates in the development and delivery of the annual brand plan for the Hematology area to achieve business objectives. Additionally, the position will work in partnership with International Analytics and Commercial Ops team (GIACO) to support the design and implementation of an omnichannel marketing strategy for Iberia, including marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates the review and approval processes for new and existing marketing materials, including coordination with regulatory, medical, marketing, legal, marketing agency, and other teams.
  2. Develops and updates existing marketing materials for customers that are aligned with marketing strategy and business objectives, including branded websites, interactive visual aids, sales brochures, and other marketing collateral.
  3. Supports customer engagement and promotional activity by ensuring marketing pieces have been uploaded to the CRM platform, administering speaker programs, and coordinating conference activities, including promotional booth and conference materials.
  4. Supports business operations in the deployment of digital marketing tactics, such as webinars, IVAs, email, and web, and provides day-to-day operational support, understanding business requirements, managing requests, prioritization, and issues.
  5. Manages digital marketing platforms, including timelines and deliveries, in partnership with country and international marketing teams, IT team, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure correct deployment of relevant initiatives and tactics.
  6. Contributes to the overall omnichannel strategy and develops customer personas and journeys.
  7. Supports the implementation and operations of digital platforms.
  8. Partners with the analytics team to analyze digital and print material usage metrics for performance reporting and assessing needs for future updates across the brand.
  9. Manages agency partners to ensure budget alignment and timely deliverables.
  10. Partners with other colleagues to work with ad agencies to develop tactics in support of annual brand planning.
  11. Engages in the development of key marketing insights in partnership with the GIACO team.
  12. Tracks marketing activities, including budget.
  13. Oversees contracting processes and raises purchase orders when needed.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. Ability to understand the target market at a high level.
  2. Ability to understand key elements of brand strategy and the incumbent's role in executing that strategy.
  3. Ability to understand insights and the implications, and apply those insights to tactics and business problems or opportunities.
  4. Results-oriented, with strong communication and collaboration skills to explain complex information to others in straightforward situations.
  5. Proven ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects.
  6. Proven ability to work with outside business partners and vendors.
  7. Previous experience in defining an omnichannel strategy.
  8. An understanding of the legal and regulatory environment, with proven experience in working in the approval of promotional materials in the pharmaceutical industry in Spain, and a plus for the Portuguese market.
  9. Good expertise in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  10. Demonstrated experience in digital project planning and management.
  11. Fluency in English, with Portuguese being beneficial.
  12. Basic experience in the specialty pharmaceutical and/or biotech industries.
  13. Experience in a marketing agency environment would be beneficial.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in marketing, business, scientific area, or related field. Requires experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Flexibility and Work Arrangement:

This is a hybrid-eligible role, allowing you to choose between working remotely up to two days per week or working five days a week on-site with ad hoc flexibility. Note that the Flex status for this position is subject to Vertex's Policy on Flex @ Vertex Program and may be changed at any time.
