Project Management Office Director

Job Summary:
Hitachi Vantara Corporation is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Project Management Office Director to lead our Project Management Office (PMO) team in the area of responsibility. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for supporting Project Managers in defining, implementing, and applying project management policies and work instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Contribute to the implementation of continuous improvements for the project execution strategy for the local project operation, in alignment with Business Unit (BU) and Local Business Unit (LBU) business strategies.
- Project Portfolio: Ensure the project portfolio is managed consistently, based on best practices and internal policies.
- Instructions and Guidelines: Lead the Project Management Office team and ensure that internal policies, i.e. directives, instructions, and guidelines are followed. Develop and continuously improve respective processes, based on industry best practices. Ensure that findings from lessons learned from project execution are incorporated in continuous improvement actions.
- Budget, Sales, and Operations Planning: Participate in Bid/Sales Phase, i.e. in estimating and resource planning.
- Project Execution and Control: Oversee project management activities at the portfolio level through project reviews with the management team and Project Managers. Take an active role in resolving escalated issues. Oversee that project closure is performed properly and timely for all projects in the portfolio.
- Contract and Claims: Oversee the proper application of contract and claim management methods in accordance with internal policies, and contractual agreements.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders of the PMO. Serve as an escalation point for individual and systemic project management issues.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Reinforce and maintain a culture of Health & Safety in all project operations.
- People Leadership and Development: Lead the PMO team to establish and enforce an effective project management approach to achieve both project and organizational goals. Develop project organization, jointly with management team and Project Managers. Plan, assign, and manage project resources based on competencies, project fit, and availability. Develop the project management capacity and capability in line with internal Group directives and processes. Ensure that the area of responsibility is structured to fit the business model, sufficiently staffed with skilled resources, and directed appropriately. Guide, motivate, and develop direct and indirect reports.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with a strong technical background (project management qualifications are a plus).
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of proven experience in project management.
- Skills: Strong leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure to deliver projects in line with cost, quality, and schedule requirements. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines and excellent collaboration with cross-functional & cross-cultural teams. Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in project deliverables. Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks & challenges. Strong communication skills.
