The Role

As we expand our operations in Europe, we are seeking a Local Regulatory Compliance Officer to spearhead Dojo's compliance initiatives in Spain. This role involves establishing and maintaining a comprehensive compliance framework that aligns with the regulatory standards set by the Banco de España.

Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Compliance for Dojo Europe, you will be instrumental in ensuring the effectiveness of our Regulatory Compliance function.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing compliance with regulations related to PSD2, Regulatory Reporting, Consumer Protection, and Marketing and Advertising practices. You will engage significantly with key stakeholders and external regulatory authorities, making this a dynamic and rewarding position.

This position is classified as a Controlled Function 2 role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Individual Accountability Framework Act 2023.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advisory: Provide expert guidance to first-line functions regarding regulatory obligations. Support local Senior Management and Group Compliance functions (Europe & UK) in executing regulatory requirements and internal policies. Manage the firm's regulatory obligations in Spain, influencing Senior Leaders and ensuring compliance through advice, training, and communication. Coordinate the timely submission of regulatory reports to Spanish authorities, including Banco de España.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures tailored to meet Spanish regulatory requirements. Conduct regular reviews to ensure policies remain relevant and effective.
  • Training and Education: Deliver training and support to team members on local compliance policies. Contribute to group training content and promote a culture of risk management and compliance within the branch.
  • Regulatory Change: Monitor regulatory developments in Spain (e.g., PSD2, Bank of Spain guidance, EU regulations). Conduct impact assessments and communicate changes, providing guidance and solutions to the business regarding relevant regulatory issues.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior Regulatory Compliance role, with a strong understanding of compliance program implementation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and the payments/e-money landscape in Spain; familiarity with regulations in other EU/EEA jurisdictions is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues to senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • High level of responsibility and autonomy; able to contribute effectively from day one.
  • Experience in engaging with local regulators and an understanding of the challenges faced by new Fintech companies in Spain.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
