The Role
As we expand our operations into Europe, we are seeking a Local Regulatory Compliance Officer who will take charge of Dojo's compliance program in Spain, establishing and maintaining a comprehensive compliance framework that aligns with the standards set by the Banco de España.
Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Compliance for Dojo Europe, you will be instrumental in delivering an effective Regulatory Compliance function.
Your responsibilities will include providing support and oversight regarding regulations related to PSD2, Regulatory Reporting, Consumer Protection, and Marketing and Advertising activities. You will engage significantly with key business stakeholders and external regulatory authorities. This position offers an exciting challenge with the opportunity to collaborate with senior and specialized colleagues across the organization.
This role is classified as a Controlled Function 2 role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Individual Accountability Framework Act 2023.
Key Responsibilities...
- Advisory: Lead the provision of guidance to first-line functions regarding the management of regulatory obligations. Support local Senior Management and Group Compliance functions (Europe & UK) to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies. Oversee the management of the firm's regulatory obligations in Spain, influencing Senior Leaders, providing advice, conducting reviews, and facilitating training.
- Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and embed compliance policies and procedures tailored to meet Spanish regulatory requirements. Drive regular reviews and updates to ensure ongoing relevance.
- Training and Education: Provide training and support to team members on local compliance policies. Contribute to group training content and promote a culture of risk management and compliance within the branch.
- Regulatory Change: Proactively monitor regulatory changes in Spain (e.g., PSD2, Bank of Spain guidance, EU regulations). Conduct impact assessments and communicate regulatory changes, providing guidance and solutions to the business on relevant issues.
What You Will Bring...
- Demonstrated experience in a senior Regulatory Compliance role, with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance program implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and the payments/e-money regime in Spain; familiarity with regulatory requirements in other EU/EEA jurisdictions is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate issues effectively in discussions and presentations with senior stakeholders, and a proven capacity to influence Senior Management.
- A bachelor's degree.
- A high level of responsibility and autonomy, ready to contribute from day one.
- Experience in engaging with local regulators and understanding the challenges faced by new Fintech companies in Spain.
- Fluency in Spanish and English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
