About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator III to join our team at Guidewire. As a key member of our database support team, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support for our database environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Support: Provide primary contact for database requests, research, and resolution, ensuring timely and effective issue resolution.
  • Database Administration: Support Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Aurora (MySQL/PostgreSQL) production and non-production databases, including setup, configuration, and monitoring.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain technical articles, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles to support customer request fulfillment and issue resolution.
  • Training and Development: Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of our database through company-sponsored training and experience.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with application development and support teams to ensure optimal database performance, and develop strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving and Escalation: Troubleshoot SQL and database errors, report abnormalities and critical issues to management, and work with infrastructure and application teams for problem resolutions.
  • Teamwork and Information Sharing: Contribute to an environment that encourages information sharing, team-based resolution activity, cross-training, and a focus on customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related STEM field, or related experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in database administration, 3+ years' experience in Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, or other database scripting language.
  • Skills: Highly proficient in one or more RDBMS technologies, working knowledge of database high availability scenarios, knowledge of database data replication tools, Unix/Linux general administration skills, and strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Soft Skills: Strong work ethic, positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and ability to explain complex technical concepts to a varied audience.
