As a Wind Flow Modelling Engineer - Site Assessment Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our team with wind analysis in the installation phase of wind turbines and wind parks, and providing valuable insights in the tendering phase.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering or meteorology, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position focusing on wind and site assessment. Proficiency in wind flow modelling and relevant software such as WindPro, WAsP, or other comparable tools is essential. Additionally, the ability to work with large datasets, strong analytical skills, and experience with CFD codes are highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and understand site-specific wind and climate data to inform wind turbine installation decisions.
  2. Support the tendering team in wind risks analysis, considering project constraints such as hub height, rotor diameter, and wind speed limits.
  3. Collaborate with the wind engineering department to develop and improve wind risk studies and models.
  4. Contribute to cost calculation during the tendering phase by analyzing wind impact and supporting the team in making informed decisions.
  5. Improve current wind external tools during the execution phase and compare outcomes with different wind assessment tools.
  6. Combine technical requirements and practical limitations to achieve optimal wind risk performance.
  7. Model wind flow using relevant software and develop the Nordex wind tool, comparing wind data from different sites.
  8. Regularly report achievements, risks, and challenges to the team.
  9. Occasional travel within the country and abroad may be required.

Location: This position can be located in Madrid or Tajonar (Navarra) in Spain or Hamburg in Germany.

Remuneration: The estimated salary for this position is around £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Meteorology or equivalent technical background.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position with a focus on wind and site assessment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Experience with CFD codes and wind flow modelling software.
  • Fluent in English, with additional skills in Spanish and/or German a plus.
