Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Gateway Recruiting. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing strategic legal advice to our business clients in Spain and Portugal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business clients to lead multidisciplinary projects and provide expert legal advice on commercial contracts, government contracts, product liability, and other specialized areas.
  • Work independently on complex matters and lead cross-functional deals and projects with significant impact and complexity.
  • Formulate strategies for sophisticated business setups and dispute resolution, identifying and quantifying legal risks and exploring options and alternatives.
  • Raise and monitor legal discussions and questions applicable to our businesses and operations in the assigned region.
  • Support and accompany judicial and administrative claims, providing recommendations and consultations on organizational policies and regulatory questions.
  • Monitor and proactively manage legal issues occurring within the region, through direct involvement or management of law firms.
  • Support or align the activities of the department with the planning of the area, managing the legal department including budget and outside counsel.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of post-qualified legal experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in law from an accredited institution.
  • Experience gained within a reputable commercial law firm and ideally made the transition into the in-house legal team of a recognized entity.
  • Good understanding of general commercial law, Competition Law, Health Care Law, Privacy, and related areas of practice.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English is required. Portuguese welcomed.
  • Admission to practice in Spain.
