This is a dynamic opportunity to join Morningstar DBRS, a global organization operating within a highly regulated industry. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the Canadian Senior Vice President, Legal and work closely with the Morningstar Global Head of Regulatory Strategy and Advisory, Legal.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic legal support to commercial business initiatives, collaborating with the Morningstar DBRS business development team to drive growth and success.
- Negotiate and advise on commercial contracts, including letters of engagement, confidentiality agreements, and rating feed agreements.
- Review, negotiate, and advise on non-reliance and hold harmless letters from accounting firms and others providing reports in the credit analytical function.
- Work closely with the Morningstar DBRS Compliance team, Regulatory team, Marketing and Communications team, and People and Culture team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and protect the organization's reputation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, with experience in negotiating and advising on complex contracts. You will be a strategic thinker, able to provide expert legal advice and support to senior executives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
