Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join our Scientific IT Area team at CRAG. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our computational resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the use of our CRAG computers cluster, ensuring efficient resource allocation and optimal performance.
  • Propose improvements and optimization strategies for the cluster architecture and software engineering, considering CRAG's needs and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of bioinformatics software and tools, providing expert support to users.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to help CRAG users efficiently utilize the cluster, including introductory seminars and one-on-one discussions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Informatics engineering, Computer science, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, Python, R, and Perl.
  • Experience in managing scientific IT areas in research or academic settings is highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline optimization and cluster resource management software.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases is an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Interim contract with the possibility of a permanent contract.
  • Full-time position with 37.5 hours/week.
