Scientific IT Area Manager

CRAG is seeking a highly skilled Scientific IT Area Manager to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our computational resources.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the use of CRAG's computers cluster, ensuring efficient use and optimal performance.
- Propose improvements and optimization strategies for the cluster architecture and software engineering, considering CRAG's needs and the state of the art in the field.
- Coordinate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of bioinformatics software and tools, providing general support to users.
- Help CRAG users to efficiently use the cluster, through introductory seminars, user meetings, and one-to-one discussions.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Informatic engineering, Computer science, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages like C and languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, and Perl.
- Experience in managing the scientific IT area in a research or academic setting will be positively valued.
- Strong knowledge in pipeline optimization.
- Experience with cluster resource management software, such as Slurm, LSF, or SGE.
- Experience in bioinformatic tools and databases will be an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
- Organizational Skills.
- Interim contract until filling the vacancy with a permanent contract.
- Working day: Full 37.5 hours/week.
- Remuneration: depending on the experience and qualifications provided and framed within the salary structure of CRAG.
- Facilities for balance work and personal life through teleworking and flexible working hours, 22 days of holidays, 9 free days of personal matters; intensive working hours on summer and Fridays.
