POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves overseeing the management and optimization of computational resources within the scientific IT domain, ensuring high performance and reliability of the systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee the operations of the CRAG computer cluster, ensuring efficient performance and resource allocation.
- Identify and recommend enhancements to the cluster architecture and software systems, aligning with the latest advancements in the field.
- Facilitate the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of bioinformatics applications, providing comprehensive support to users.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to assist users in effectively utilizing the cluster resources.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A degree in Computer Science, Informatic Engineering, Computational Biology, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in programming languages, including C, Python, R, and Perl, particularly in bioinformatics contexts.
- Previous experience in managing scientific IT operations in research or academic environments is highly regarded.
- Strong expertise in optimizing computational pipelines.
- Familiarity with cluster resource management tools such as Slurm, LSF, or SGE.
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and databases is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse research teams.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Interim contract leading to a permanent position.
- Full-time commitment of 37.5 hours per week.
