The Turbine Control department is a vital component of the Siemens Gamesa Offshore Technology organization, underpinning our technological leadership. We continuously strive for excellence and are seeking a Chief Engineer in the field of Turbine Control.
Key Responsibilities
The Turbine Control department comprises over 50 dedicated engineers located in various countries. We deliver competitive, high-quality control solutions that enhance the annual energy production of our offshore and onshore wind turbines while ensuring the structural integrity and operational constraints of the subsystems.
Our work is at the forefront of technology and product development, playing a crucial role from the initial ideation of new control concepts to the final certification of solutions and products. We develop and maintain our advanced in-house model-based control development framework and the supporting tool chains.
Our markets and clients are international, and so are our teams. We collaborate closely with our sister departments in Loads, System Level Control, and Project Management, conducting our daily operations in English due to our diverse colleagues across various countries.
As the Chief Engineer in Turbine Control, you will be expected to:
- Assume overall technical responsibility for wind turbine control functionality, configuration, prototype validation, and certification.
- Collaborate with various modules across the organization, gather requirements, and represent the department.
- Provide technical guidance to projects and team members within the Turbine Control domain.
- Participate in the scoping of new technology development projects and maintain technology roadmaps related to turbine control.
- Contribute to frameworks and processes that ensure the technical quality, robustness, and feasibility of deliverables in technology and projects.
- Advise on patent matters, review patents, and assess internal applications.
- Engage with the Chief Engineer community within the Loads and Control Systems module, representing the turbine control domain.
- Be a collaborative team player, capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously and driving progress in various areas.
- Maintain and develop partnerships with universities and research entities.
Qualifications
We seek individuals who are passionate about renewable energy and understand the importance of leading change. Ideal candidates will possess:
- A relevant educational background, preferably at the M.Sc. level or higher in control engineering, wind power engineering, or electrical engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the wind industry, specifically in turbine-level control solutions.
- Strong intercultural insight, enabling collaboration with diverse teams and technical expertise.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a strong command of English.
