Predoctoral Researcher at the Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration Research Group

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Predoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration Research Group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project focused on kidney organoid applications to model congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT).
Key Responsibilities:- Development of renal, cardiac, and retinal derivatives from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) in 2D and 3D cell culture settings.
- Development of patient-CAKUT hPSCs to model disease mechanisms.
- Design and fabrication of lab-on-a-chip and microfluidic devices.
- Development and implementation of a microfluidic platform to study cell-to-cell and organoid-to-organoid cross-talk.
- Implementation of quantitative and qualitative assays to monitor metabolic changes during organoid development in static conditions and in microfluidic platforms.
- BSc and MSc in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, biomedicine, or similar areas.
- Strong commitment to scientific research and an excellent academic record.
- Good working knowledge of English.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Predoctoral researcher contract for 4 years.
- Starting date: As of December 1st, 2024.
- High-quality international scientific environment.
- Induction programme to facilitate incorporation at IBEC and additional support is provided for foreigners to obtain Visa-working permit and to install in Barcelona.
