Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel for International Digital Commerce

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team at Alibaba Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our consumer-facing e-commerce platform and services in the European Union, the UK, and other markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on legal aspects of our platform's international expansion and current e-commerce offerings.
  • Provide legal guidance to business teams on commercial agreements, business models, and strategies.
  • Research local laws and regulations in local jurisdictions and manage outside counsel.
  • Support on regulatory enquiries, including Requests for Information (RFI) under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).
  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct training for business units.

Requirements:

  • Legal license to practice as an EU qualified lawyer (preferably in Spain, Poland, or the Netherlands) or in the UK.
  • At least 7 years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm and/or corporation.
  • Experience with e-commerce and/or cross-border trade transactions preferred.
  • English language proficiency is essential. Fluency in another European language and/or in Chinese is a strong plus.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently and under pressure in a start-up environment.
