Position Overview

The Data Privacy Legal Assistant will be an integral part of Visa's Global Privacy Office, reporting directly to the Senior Counsel. This role will engage with various initiatives across the Europe region, contributing to both strategic and operational efforts that drive Visa's business expansion and innovation. You will be tasked with delivering daily privacy assistance to fulfill the requirements of both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on diverse topics, providing clear and concise updates and guidance.
  • Play a pivotal role in Visa's management of data subject access requests, applying relevant legal principles.
  • Execute data privacy evaluations for key Visa suppliers and maintain essential legal documentation.
  • Oversee the administration and management of data privacy-related registrations and other critical functions.
  • Assist Global Privacy Office attorneys (including the European Data Protection Officer) with complex legal inquiries and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with the broader Global Privacy Office and Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to identify synergies and enhance efficiencies.
  • Engage with other departments as necessary, including supplier management.

Work Arrangement:

This is a hybrid role, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office a few designated days each week, based on business needs.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • A university law degree is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting as well as independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and manage a diverse workload.
  • A positive attitude, high integrity, and a strong desire to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a reputable law firm or an in-house legal environment.
  • Prior experience in data privacy is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and enthusiasm for the fintech and payments sector.
  • Data privacy certifications (e.g., International Association of Privacy Professionals CIPP/E) are considered beneficial.
  • Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
