Role Overview:

As the Country Privacy Lead at TMF, you will hold the primary responsibility for ensuring data protection compliance in Spain and Portugal. You will provide expert advice and guidance on data protection matters for each legal entity within these countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in mitigating risks, monitoring, and managing personal data processing activities in accordance with TMF Group's privacy policies and guidelines;
  • Create and deliver training and support materials for local office personnel;
  • Participate in the execution of the data protection auditing program and monitor the effectiveness of the data protection strategy in collaboration with business functions and stakeholders;
  • Serve as the primary contact and subject matter expert for audits initiated by local clients or the Data Protection Supervisory Authority, preparing responses to inquiries from relevant regulatory bodies;
  • Coordinate data protection compliance matters with the Group Privacy Office, aligning with TMF Group's data protection strategy and supporting other stakeholders;
  • Take overall responsibility for investigating data breaches, security incidents, and data subject requests from a compliance perspective, ensuring timely and compliant resolutions;
  • Provide guidance on ad hoc data protection compliance issues and manage data privacy concerns raised by the business until resolution;
  • Assist in negotiating and executing local data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses in line with TMF Group's data protection strategy;
  • Support responses to data subject requests through initial analysis and guidance on information collection;
  • Maintain and update the registration of data processing activities (RoPA) in alignment with business process owners;
  • Facilitate the completion of data protection impact assessments, coordinating input from various stakeholders as necessary;
  • Advocate for data protection compliance following TMF Group's GDPR program for the benefit of local legal entities;
  • Provide general assistance and support for governance, risk, and compliance initiatives to be implemented locally.

Key Requirements:

  • A qualified lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws or Master of Laws, possessing 2-4 years of relevant experience with European Data Privacy regulations (preferably in the country of employment);
  • Experience in a service-oriented legal practice within a law firm or as in-house counsel;
  • Proven understanding and at least 3 years of verifiable experience with Privacy and Data Protection laws/regulations;
  • Knowledge of risk mitigation practices, gap analysis, and internal audit processes, as well as data protection best practices and impact assessments;
  • Experience in advising and promoting data protection programs, particularly in the financial services sector (desirable);
  • Project management skills (desirable);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and OneTrust compliance tool (desirable);
  • Ability to work reliably under pressure and within strict timelines;
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and flexibility;
  • Capability to work in a matrix management environment and interact with external parties: suppliers, service providers, clients, partners;
  • High ethical standards and discretion;
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to engage with various departments across different countries;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management and decision-makers within TMF Group;
  • Fluent in English.
