Join Our Team as a Unit Stem Cell Specialist

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a world-renowned research organization dedicated to advancing the field of molecular biology. Our Barcelona site is a hub for cutting-edge research in tissue biology and disease modeling, with a focus on creating synthetic tissues for investigating development and disease.

Your Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated staff scientist to support ongoing projects involving stem cell and organoid culture, and to develop novel approaches and research directions. As a Unit Stem Cell Specialist, you will work closely with EMBL group leaders and their team members to lead projects, leveraging your expertise in working with iPSCs, embryonic stem cells, and/or tissue-derived stem cells.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects and work closely with EMBL group leaders and their team members
  • Develop novel approaches and research directions in stem cell and organoid culture
  • Collaborate with researchers to advance the field of tissue biology and disease modeling
  • Contribute to the creation of synthetic tissues for investigating development and disease
Requirements
  • PhD in biology or related fields
  • Experience working with iPSCs, embryonic stem cells, and/or tissue-derived stem cells
  • Extensive expertise in working with multicellular systems and organoid cultures
  • Independent and motivated work habits
  • Proactiveness and enthusiasm toward learning new techniques
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Meticulous record-keeping skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Desire to work in a team environment
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Track record of writing papers as evidenced by publications in refereed journals/preprints
