EMEA Water Infrastructure Project Leader

This role can be located in Madrid or Zaragoza.
Amazon is seeking a Water Infrastructure Manager (WIM) to facilitate the expansion and development of our Data Center network.
The WIM will oversee the creation, execution, and construction of new water infrastructure, which includes managing design consultants, drafting contracts, and developing requirements, budgets, and project timelines.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have over 10 years of experience in managing water infrastructure projects and program management, with a proven track record in handling complex and large-scale water initiatives.
A Bachelor's degree or substantial experience in water industry infrastructure delivery is essential, along with demonstrated leadership capabilities in a technical setting. The ability to deliver on challenging project objectives while balancing multiple competing priorities across various regions is crucial. Proficiency in MS Office and Project Management methodologies is also required.
The candidate must be adept at managing remote third-party project delivery teams from design through to construction and should possess the skills to facilitate technical discussions to resolve project implementation challenges and eliminate obstacles to success.
The ideal candidate will be capable of multitasking, re-prioritizing, and effectively leading project deliveries in response to evolving business requirements. A self-starter attitude, minimal need for guidance, and independent decision-making abilities are essential traits.
The WIM will be well-versed in project management tools and techniques applicable throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Over 12 years of experience in water-related project and infrastructure management.
- Expertise in core project management disciplines, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management.
- Proven capability to manage project priorities and dependencies effectively.
- Ability to prepare investment need/business case documents to secure internal funding for water reinforcement initiatives.
- Experience in the water and environmental infrastructure sectors, with a focus on construction and program management.
- Familiarity with water and environmental interfaces and experience in design and delivery with various telecom construction contractors and vendors.
- Proficient in MS Office and Project Management tools.
- Experience liaising with a diverse range of regulators and external stakeholders.
- Management of project scope, timeline, and budget for capital water infrastructure projects.
- Development and maintenance of overall delivery programs and project budgets.
- Continuous process improvement through workflow updates and sharing knowledge across teams.
- Regular reporting to senior leadership on project metrics.
- Ensuring compliance with construction standards and national regulations.
- Creation of detailed planning documentation for scalable water infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of water infrastructure construction processes across the EMEA region.
- Program management, risk mitigation, and status reporting to management and internal stakeholders.
- Ensuring health and safety compliance within the area of responsibility.
- Development of project scope, business case, and infrastructure requirements.
