Job Description

General Summary:

The Haematology Commercial Associate Director Spain is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for the Haematology business in Spain. This role involves understanding the market landscape and Vertex's position within it, leading the country Commercial Haematology team, and driving business activities aligned with performance goals.

This position reports to the Country General Manager and is part of the Country leadership team to strengthen the local business in alignment with cross-functional team members.

The Haematology Country Associate Commercial Director will be a core member of the International Heme Operating Committee.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement the country commercial strategy for the Haematology business in alignment with International Commercial strategic objectives.
  2. Shape and build the Haematology organization by hiring and setting the country vision.
  3. Lead the commercial haematology field team.
  4. Understand the value drivers of Vertex, lead the business, and identify profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
  5. Launch Vertex's first investigational genetic therapy for hemoglobinopathies (sickle cell disease - SCD and transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia - TDT) in Spain.
  6. Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of key physicians and haematology centres to ensure their needs are met and their business is retained.
  7. Lead the identification and activation of Authorized Treatment Centres (ATCs) at the country level.
  8. Maintain awareness of external factors (including competitors, government business initiatives, current and proposed legislation in relation to commercial activities) which impact the Haematology business.
  9. Champion and lead each new product or service development, from innovation through to successful implementation across each business function, to enable it to become a core part of the business.
  10. Develop and execute multiple digital and educational campaigns for the SCD & TDT patient and HCP communities.
  11. Partner with the VP of International Haematology, IHQ Commercial haem team, and international functional leads to shape the international Haem strategy and brand life-cycle activities.
  12. Contribute to the access and reimbursement strategy in the country.
  13. Ensure regular reviews are carried out with customers to ensure their needs are met and excellent customer service is achieved, and develop future improvements/services for the customers.
  14. Represent the company externally.
