Job Description

Job Summary:

The Shift Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production team, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities:Supervision and Team Management
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of production staff to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with operating procedures and policies.
  • Lead, coach, and appraise production staff, and develop effective teamwork to achieve results and maintain a positive culture.
Production Scheduling
  • Determine production priorities in conjunction with the Production Manager, based on established monthly and weekly production schedules.
  • Make daily assignments to meet production standards and schedules, including cleaning and other associated production activities.
  • Ensure efficient staffing and organization according to production requirements, and establish work schedules for operators in conjunction with planning and supply chain.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to align production activities with planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Set schedules for incoming raw materials and ingredients in conjunction with purchasing, supply chain, and warehousing to maintain proper inventory levels.
Quality and HSE Compliance
  • Ensure that the team follows all safety, quality standards, and plant policies, and take disciplinary measures when required.
  • Train employees on production aspects and ensure that the team follows all housekeeping schedules to maintain the plant at Nutreco standards.
  • Interpret specifications and propose actions or judgments about the acceptability of production in process.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures to prevent or avoid incidents.
  • Signal potential hazardous or unsafe situations and take appropriate action in case of imminent unsafe situations.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain production monitoring systems and reports to ensure an adequate insight into production status at all times.
  • Monitor shift, daily, and weekly KPIs SQCDME and work with the Production Manager to reach set targets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and lead problem-solving groups in a structured approach.
Communication
  • Communicate with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, and Supply Chain managers/supervisors and other departments to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and other production meetings.
