The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Manager to lead our cross-functional software development team in building innovative software solutions. As a key member of our product development organization, you will interact and collaborate with various Solera product management and engineering teams across multiple locations. Your expertise will be invaluable in managing and developing a talented engineering team, implementing standard development processes, and driving the implementation of guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a cross-national team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's success.
- Develop and implement career and development paths for team members, ensuring their growth and advancement.
- Communicate effectively with the team and leadership, ensuring clear understanding of business direction, strategy, and results.
- Support and implement organization-wide initiatives, driving innovation and improvement.
- Mentor junior resources, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to development standards and practices.
- Pursue continuous improvement in development processes, standards, and quality.
- Coach, mentor, and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand business and technical needs, providing solutions and recommendations.
Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years managing development teams, with a proven track record of success
Hands-on experience with:
- Agile (Scrum or XP) and test & behavior-driven development
- Continuous integration, and version control
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrable experience in developing software applications, with a focus on scalability and high availability
- Related DevOps tools experience a plus (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Sonar, Jenkins etc)
- Experience in managing teams responsible for building distributed systems, with a strong understanding of technical topics and assignments
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to articulate specific technical topics or assignments
- Experience in breaking down problems and estimating time for development tasks
