Job Description Summary
The Staff Accountant ensures that all A/R transactions are properly approved and posted regularly. He/she ensures documentation for all client invoices and payments are properly maintained.

THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE

The role focuses on invoice processing, vendor management, A/R reporting, and ERP system knowledge (NetSuite), making it more suitable for an early to mid-career accountant focusing on A/R operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Issuing customer's invoices based on the information provided in the software or from project managers (it depends on the project)
  • Managing the process of invoicing pass through costs received on vendor's invoices
  • Reconciliations of customers balances
  • Working with project managers on any project related financial issues
  • Extracting AR reports from Netsuite
  • Debt collection follow ups with customers (we are in the process of automating this process, so probably by the time new person is hired, it will not have to be done by emails)
  • Applying customers payments to invoices
  • Any ad hoc requests related to open projects

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • BS/BA from an undergraduate program, preferably in Accounting
  • 2+ years' relevant experience in accounting role with knowledge of income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, cash flow forecasting and related reporting
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Intermediate-level Excel and MS Word skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to succeed in a fast-paced, fast-growing environment with changing priorities
  • Solutions-oriented, strong attention to detail, tech-savvy

  • Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, yet less structured team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in English; knowledge of French or Spanish helpful, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Netsute preferred
  • Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills required for role.
  • Good organizational skills to plan, organize and prioritize workload are crucial for this position.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Team player.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Normal office working conditions including frequent sitting, standing, bending, twisting and computer monitor use. Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work from home or in the office
